There are several different versions of the snell knot. If you do a google search you should be able to find one that only involves one pass through the eye. I'm using a 9/0 hook and 80lb line in the video.

my 12 pound line is too thick for the size 16 and 14s hooks to pass throgu the eye twice do you know any other kots hat dont include 2 threads through the eye.. ?

Too cool, my first attempt was successful. Sure beats the other methods. Thanks for sharing. BTW: instead of circle hooks, I use the Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap 1/0. Great hookups everytime.

If you use circle hooks a snell is the only way to go. It holds circle hooks in the proper alignment to set when the fish loads the rod.

thats exactly right! it pretty much makes the hook part of the line... no spining, or twisting

Definately helps with the hook up's. Especially when used with a circle hook. Keeps the hook aligned with the pull on the leader for maximun penetration.

cool... i do it a lil differently, but nothing holds like a snell... even helps with hook up's |
