Interesting that he did not bitch about SourceSafe (at least in the first 5 mins when I was still interested.) Maybe Google asked him not to?

He's a bad speaker, so you're getting hung up on irrelevant details (how it helps Linus) while missing the benefits that apply to everything from corporate projects to small team projects and even individual projects. The cheap branching and merging is incredible. Even for a solo dev, the performance, offline capabilities, and variety of tools to manipulate the tree are unbelievable. Convincing yourself that it doesn't live up to the hype is retarded, go try it, you won't be disappointed.

Opinionated, and unconvincing as to why Git would be better. Saying you only accept changes from trusted colleagues, and bouncing awkward changes back to them only works if you are the alpha male in a programming team.

Bill and steve are not geeks, they're entrepreneurs, they may know about computers, but they're are far away of being geeks or hackers, that is why they don't care about their's software quality.

No he wasn't, moron.Get your facts straight before mommy lets you use her computer.

That was an hour of my life I'll never get back. All he did was establish that version control software sucks, not why one would want to use git.At least he managed to appear like an arrogant, smug, insecure jackass. Linus must be fun at parties and a joy to work with in Beaverton.

linus is pretty cute

I find this talk amazing. There are so many people that like to appear smarter then they are. Linux is not one of them. I like his thoughts about trust. I think it is important to find teachers we trust and stay away from those that think they are smarter then everybody and are really not.
